Hello! I’m Raine, and welcome to Mad About Makeup! I created this blog back in 2007, and then further studies got in the way so MAM was put on hold for a few years. But my passion for makeup never really waned – I’d say it even intensified! - and I had always planned to get back into beauty blogging someday. So here I am again, reviving an old love. :)
I aim to show and feature as many brands as possible from different price ranges, so you’ll be seeing makeup from drugstores to department stores to independent companies. I will also show makeup from different countries of origin, so there will be brands from the U.S., France, Germany, Japan, Korea, the Philippines, etc. There will also be posts on organic and mineral makeup.
Aside from swatches and photos, product reviews will be part of the content of this blog. That being said, product reviews are, to an extent, framed by personal experience; as such, the experience may differ from person to person. Given all the various skin types, chemistries, needs, and preferences, what works for me may not always work for you and vice versa. A certain color may look fabulous on one person, but look off or unsuitable on another. A product may cause breakouts or fail to last the whole day for some, yet that same product may be holy-grail material for others.
But I think part of the fun in makeup is searching, exploring, experimenting, and trying out different stuff – I’m sure you’ve felt the satisfied thrill that comes with finding a piece of makeup that looks amazing on you and/or works absolutely right. And I hope that this blog could show you some of the many, many options and possibilities available to you out there.
